Music Monday: Strawberry Soda

music monday

Welcome to Music Monday! This time of year, when I'm yearning for winter to melt away and reveal wonderful beautiful perfect spring, my music interests shift a bit. I find myself to be a seasonal music listener. I have certain artists, genres and albums for certain times of the year. For example, during this time of year when I'm longing for warmer weather (and by warmer I mean I'd even be happy with 50 degree temperatures) I always drift toward … [Read more...]

3 Little Birds

3 little birds-finished

The six inches of snow outside says it is still winter, but I know we're all riddled with spring fever. A month ago I saw these tea light holders at the dollar store and decided they'd be perfect for a little project. Their little bird shapes were great, but I thought the drab finishes could be improved. I started by soaking them in hot water to loosen the adhesive holding the tea light holders in place. Ten minutes in the hot water … [Read more...]

Playful Centerpiece

game pieces in vases

I have a thing for centerpieces. Particularly, centerpiece ideas that are unique and creative. I don't have a "staple" centerpiece for my dining table, I'm always changing it. Usually I try to use things I already have around the house. I felt like it was too early to start in with the spring things, but I needed something cheery to help battle these long winter blahs. I headed to our game room for some inspiration. This is what I came up with. … [Read more...]

i {heart} you

i {heart} you playlist

I read a quote some years ago that said, "Music is what feelings sound like." I could not agree more. I am a music maniac, I love all types. I love discovering new music  and I also love making playlists. In honor of valentine's day I've created a playlist titled i {heart} you. Just little tidbits of ear candy for you to snack on. Enjoy. Happy Valentine's Day! (All of these songs can be found on iTunes.) … [Read more...]

Jar of Hearts

jar of hearts

A couple of weeks ago I was listening to Christina Perri's Jar of Hearts and thought to myself that a jar of hearts would be a cute valentine decoration. Shall we? I used my trusty Cricut to cut out a handful of hearts. They need to be quite small; mine vary from 1 inch to 2 inch. I took 10 hearts, poked a hole in the top, and tied them to varying lengths of thread. Make sure the thread isn't too long so the hearts don't touch the bottom of … [Read more...]

Sprinkles & Smiles & Cookies

Sprinkles. Just hearing the word puts a smile on my face. Sprinkles embodies visions of birthdays and parties and tiered trays of yummy treats and goodies. Sprinkles bring out our inner child, even if only for a little while. Everything is better with sprinkles. This recipe is quick and easy. You really can use any flavor of cake mix. My favorites are white, strawberry, lemon and red velvet. Cake Mix Cookies 1 package cake mix, any … [Read more...]

Hanging Hearts Garland

hanging hearts

I'm so excited about today's post! This was such a fun project and I love how it turned out! I started by using my Cricut to cut out hearts of varying sizes. Then I poked a little hole in the top of each heart. I used white floral wire next to make a loop in each heart. Once my hearts were looped I strung them on some white string. Aren't they great? I'm in love! I had enough for two garlands. Here is the other one … [Read more...]

Valentine Banner & Lights

be mine banner 2

As promised, I finally got my Valentine projects finished and ready to post. I've got a thing for banners and garlands as some of you may know. I made this garland by simply printing the letters on sheet music. I picked up some old music books from the local thrift store. I then attached the lettered sheet music to red card stock and strung it all together with some bakers twine. (I've got a thing for bakers twine too.) I had a string … [Read more...]

Vase of Hearts

Over the past couple weeks I've been working on some great DIY Valentine projects and I'm excited to get them all posted here at Happy Looks Good On You. This one was a cinch, it only took me about 30 minutes. I bought a few sheets of super fun paper and some matching stickers then went to work. I cut out some hearts, added a little flair, taped them onto wooden skewers and I was finished! I filled a white vase I picked up at the thrift store … [Read more...]
