leap day, monte cristo sandwich & disneyland

Happy Leap Day!!! Anyone doing anything fun to celebrate? Yeah, me neither. But I wish I was at Disneyland. In honor of Leap Day, Disney is celebrating "One More Disney Day" with twenty-four hours of Disneyland. That's right! The park is open for 24 hours! You better believe I'd be in the park for the full twenty-four hours, even if I had to take a little snooze on the train while circling the Magic Kingdom. Ahhh, I can't think … [Read more...]

music monday: the artist

The Artist (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) 1

Sorry for my absence last week, my web hosting server was having difficulties. blah blah blah blah blah. Happy Monday to all of you. I hope you had a fantastic weekend. The Artist. Have you heard of it? If you caught any of the Oscars last night you heard a lot of it. I saw this movie last week and fell in love. I also decided that words can get in the way. This is a silent movie and the first to be nominated for Best … [Read more...]

diy paper bag books

paper bag album

Have I mentioned how much I love paper? In case you didn't get the memo, I LOVE paper! It's so versatile, easy to work with and cheap. I've got a great way to make mini albums using scrapbook paper and paper bags. Ok, seriously, aren't these fun?   I've made a few different ones to give you an idea of what you can do with these little beauties. This is one I made and filled with some of my favorite … [Read more...]

my quote for 2012

life that is waiting blog pic

I am fully aware that we are a month and a half into 2012 and that most people have already established their goals and/or resolutions. A few years ago a friend of mine introduced me to the One Word Goal. Instead of making a list of resolutions that will most likely be ignored, she said she picks one word that she wants to focus on throughout the year. I instantly fell in love with this idea. Another friend of mine, Lara from less cake {more … [Read more...]

jam-filled hearts

jam-filled pies

Here's a last minute treat idea that is easy and fun to make. I took these jam-filled hearts to work yesterday and they were a delicious hit!   I started with a pie crust. I was lazy and just bought my crust from the store.   Using a cookie cutter, I cut hearts from the pie crust.   Then I filled them with either raspberry or strawberry jam, but you could use any flavor you like. Make sure … [Read more...]

diy heart bulb

Here's a super fun idea for using old lightbulbs. Turn them into heart bulbs!   First we need to hollow out the old lightbulb. This is easy, but I think it seems a little intimidating. I had visions of exploding glass shattering everywhere. No exploding glass. No shattering. Promise. It takes less than ten minutes. But you will need some needle-nose pliers and a screwdriver.   Here is the end of … [Read more...]

chalkboard paper + thrift store score!

framed chalkboard paper

I have two words for you. Chalkboard. Paper. How brilliant is that?! When I saw this at Michaels's AND noticed it was 40% off I knew I had to snag it.   I've had this frame for years, but never used it. The pictures are 5 x 5 and who has pictures that size? Not me. But it was perfect for this little project. I just cut three 5 x 5 pieces of chalkboard paper then chalked 'em up. And yes, the chalk erases … [Read more...]

room by room: living room makeover?

open space

I wasn't quite sure what to call this post. Is it still considered a makeover if all you do is rearrange things? I'm going to say yes. Maybe a lesser degree of makeover, but still a makeover. I sure feel like I have a whole new room and that is one of the best feelings ever! As I have mentioned, we are in the process of creating a new dining room. Which, in turn, has caused all sorts of rearranging. This is our living room … [Read more...]
