3 Little Birds

The six inches of snow outside says it is still winter, but I know we’re all riddled with spring fever. A month ago I saw these tea light holders at the dollar store and decided they’d be perfect for a little project.

Their little bird shapes were great, but I thought the drab finishes could be improved.

I started by soaking them in hot water to loosen the adhesive holding the tea light holders in place.

Ten minutes in the hot water and the glass holders popped out.

I choose a springy bluebird color to paint these little birds.

For two of the birds I just lightly painted here and there. This one I completely covered in paint then used sandpaper to take the paint off in certain areas. I wanted to try a couple different techniques to see which style I liked more. Turns out I really like both of them.

Once the little birds were dry I put the glass tea light holders back into place.

I love how these turned out and am excited to use them in my spring decorating! And the best part is the total price for this project was under five bucks. Can’t beat that!
