diy concrete pots

My love of succulents and my love of concrete has finally collided and exploded into a plethora of these fantastic concrete pots. Oh, and let's not forget my total obsession with gold liquid leaf. It was inevitable, I suppose. One of the great things about these pots, besides how amazing they look, is how easy and inexpensive they are to make. I like to buy the buckets of Quikrete from Lowe's. A 20 pound bucket is around $10.00. And I … [Read more...]

diy cork mouse pad

diy cork mouse pad

Hi-ya! I've got a simple little project today for making your own mouse pad out of cork. Start with a sheet of cork. I used a cork placemat that I picked up from IKEA. Draw your mouse pad shape onto the cork. I made mine rectangle, but you could make yours a square or circle.   I wanted to add a little metallic love to my mouse pad so out came the liquid leaf. Let's be honest, I pretty much look for any excuse to … [Read more...]

etched halloween glasses

Aren't these little glasses simply adorable? I attribute that mostly to the cute little Halloween icons I downloaded from Little White Whale. They are perfect! Glass etching is simple. Here's what you need: - glasses (these stemless wine glasses came from the dollar store) - etching cream (found at Michael's, Hobby Lobby or any craft supply store) - paintbrush (the stiffer the bristles the better) - vinyl stencils (you can … [Read more...]

why pick white?

the power of white paint

Ah, the paint store. Rows and rows of delicious colors and shades. From someone who, at one point, did not have a single white wall in her entire house I understand the alluring beauty of paint colors. Trust me. In fact, there was a time when I actually said I would never have white walls. Oh the shame of it. Well, never say never. I'm here to tell ya, white walls are ALWAYS a good idea. The truth is when you paint your walls a color other … [Read more...]

concrete gems: magnets & pushpins

concrete gems: magnets & pushpins

These little concrete magnets and pushpins make my heart sing. These were incredibly fun and easy to make. All you need to make some of your own is concrete, a silicone mold (I bought mine here on Etsy), magnets, pushpins and liquid leaf. Mix up your concrete in a plastic cup. I added a little extra water so it was a bit thinner and easier to work with. Spoon the concrete into the molds. Gently shaking and tapping the mold helps the … [Read more...]

music monday: neulore

neulore-animal evolve

I was a project rockstar this weekend! Do you ever have those? Where you just crush it! I started, worked on and finished so many projects, including a new desk, a couple new concrete projects, some seasonal stuff AND I painted my kitchen! And we even had time to watch one of our favorite bad Halloween movies- Van Helsing. It was like I had the power of time control or something. Well, needless to say, I have an extra side of awesome sauce … [Read more...]

halloween dessert plates

halloween dessert plates

Everything Tim Burton does is completely brilliant. And he has some pretty adorable pooches in his movies. Even if they are undead. I decided to make a set of three dessert plates with these cute canines. These images of Zero, Sparky and Scraps are actually pumpkin carving stencils. I cut them out using my Silhouette machine. I picked up my dessert plates from the dollar store and the glass paint came from Michael's. The cost of this … [Read more...]

cancer sucks: you can help

hair before & after

I think it's pretty safe to say that most all of us have been affected by breast cancer in some way. It's been almost twelve years since I lost my mom to breast cancer after an extended and courageous battle. My great grandmother, aunts, cousins and friends have also bravely battled this horrible disease. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and there's no better time than now to get involved and make a difference. In addition to a monetary … [Read more...]
