Finally! The dining room reveal is here! Curt and I have been working on this makeover ALL year. I first mentioned this transformation waaay back in January. But it has absolutely been worth it! We are so happy with our new dining room!
This room is right off from the kitchen and it just makes perfect sense to have it be the dining room. I can’t believe we didn’t realize it years ago. Here’s a before shot. (I had already started clearing furniture out and then remembered I needed to take some before pictures.)
Here’s our mantel and fireplace before.
We went with white and gray for the new dining room. Can’t go wrong with those colors. The brick around the fireplace received a couple thick coats of Subway Tile and the mantel and bookshelves color is called Almost Charcoal.
The ceiling had zero texture on it so we had to do something about that.
We applied a texture using joint compound.
Our dining room looked like this for an embarrassing amount of time this year. Notice the light fixtures hanging from the ceiling by the wires? Yep, awesome.
Here’s the ceiling all finished. So much better.
These lights came from IKEA and are perfect over the dining table.
The turquoise beauty!
I made this chandelier using a hanging basket and crepe paper. You can find the tutorial here.
I think the gallery wall is one of my favorite features of our new dining room. You can read all about it here.
Instead of buying a new dining table I painted a chevron pattern on my existing one. I posted a full tutorial here.
Isn’t she fabulous?!
And last, but certainly not least, my ruffled curtains. I was amazed at how much texture they added to the room! They really provided the perfect finishing touch. And they were easy to make…just a bit time consuming. The DIY ruffled curtains tutorial can be found here.
Well, there we have it. Our fantastic new dining room and we couldn’t be happier about it! Anyone want to come over for dinner?
Until next time….
