I’ve been sharing all the gooey details of our office makeover this week. As I mentioned in a previous post, our main goal for the office was to be a space that both Curtis and I could really get our creative juices flowing. I thought a little DIY inspiration was in order. I LOVE the simplicity of this art.
I first did this project on canvas, but canvas has a hard time showcasing the shimmering awesome-ness of metallic spray paint. And I also used copper spray paint the first go around. I finished, hung it on the wall, had two minutes of trying to convince myself that I liked it, then admitted that I needed to do it again. It just looked like an ugly brown color. No good. The process pictures are from the failed canvas attempt. On the second attempt I used a piece of MDF painted white and metallic gold spray paint. I think the metallic copper paint would have worked great on this, but I just decided I wanted to go with gold.
Start by sticking vinyl letters onto your MDF board.
Using your favorite metallic spray paint, start spraying at the bottom and over the CREATE lettering. Spray up the board as far as you like. I sprayed lighter coats at the area I wanted the metallic paint to stop.
Once the paint is dry, peel off the vinyl lettering. And just like that, you now have this perfectly simple piece of art.
Until next time….
