make bowls out of records!

Everyone ready for  a super easy and super fun project?! I’m so crazy about these! I can’t stop making them! First, head to your local thrift store and pick up some old records. I found mine for $0.50 each.

Preheat your oven to 225 degrees. You’ll need a bowl that can go in the oven, turn it upside down on a cookie sheet.

Lay a record on top of the bowl.

Depending on the record, it’ll take 5-10 minutes to reach optimal “floppiness”. When it looks like this, take it out of the oven.

Push the floppy record into another bowl to form the shape. You can use different sizes of bowls to get all sorts of variations. You can also do a lot of “molding” with your hands. You need to work fast though, the records cool fast and become hard again in about 30 seconds.

Look at all the fun record bowls! Ah! I love them all!

I collect playing cards and thought a couple of these record bowls would be a great way to display some of them.

They also make a great gift “basket”. Put in a couple of cds, an iTunes gift card and some yummy treats.

Wow. That’s ridiculously cute!

They also make great crapper keepers. That’s what we call them anyway. Ya know, a place to put your keys, wallet, spare change, gum, chapstick, ticket stubs, lint balls, anything that comes out of your pockets or purse.

Thanks for stopping by. If you like what you see let me know by leaving a comment or following Happy Looks Good On You. Until next time.
