peep show!

Every year The Washington Post has a Peeps Diorama Contest. If you haven’t ever seen Peep dioramas you seriously need to get on their website and look at them. They are hilarious! They have pictures from all the past Peep diorama entries and once you start looking at them you just can’t get enough.

As mentioned in a previous post, I spent last week visiting Alison and we had our own peep diorama contest. It was girls vs. boys and so much fun! The theme was “At The Movies” and each team had a $15.00 budget to spend on supplies.

I’ll admit, it was a little nuts how into it we all were, but I’m pretty sure this may become an annual event. So if you’re looking for a ridiculously fun activity to do with your family and friends this spring you should give it a whirl.

Without further ado, I give to you…..

Indiana Peep & the Raiders of the Lost Peep

This is the diorama that Alison and I made and may I say, hats off to her! She has crazy mad Peep diorama-ing skills.

(and yes, diorama-ing is a word.)

Just take a look at Indy’s hand-crafted hat, satchel and whip. That was all Alison. As were the native Peeps.

Notice the plane is complete with a snake in the back seat, just like in the movie.

“That’s just my pet snake Reggie. Come on, show a little backbone. Will ya?”

I was charged with the duties of making all the scenery which involved a lot of paper manipulation, chocolate rocks, and a gloopey brown sugar mixture that got a little dicey at one point.

Indy even has the idol peeking out of his satchel.

And now for Curt and Paul’s Peep diorama…

Night of the Living Peep

That’s Peep Paul and Curt on the roof defending the house from the horde of zom-bunnies.

I love all the zom-bunny carnage!

This is my favorite part of their diorama. It’s so hilarious! I love that the zom-bunny is eating the regular Peep. Brilliant.

Peep Curtis.

Peep Paul.

Great work guys! What an incredible job!

Once the dioramas were unveiled we decided they were both so good that no winner could be declared.

I think we’re all winners for making awesome Peep dioramas.

Don’t you agree?

Until next time….

-Meg
