Playful Centerpiece

I have a thing for centerpieces. Particularly, centerpiece ideas that are unique and creative. I don’t have a “staple” centerpiece for my dining table, I’m always changing it. Usually I try to use things I already have around the house. I felt like it was too early to start in with the spring things, but I needed something cheery to help battle these long winter blahs. I headed to our game room for some inspiration.

This is what I came up with. Fun right?! I decided to use jacks, puzzle pieces, bouncy balls, Light Bright pegs, dominoes, Jenga blocks and checkers. A few others that I also thought would be fun: Scrabble tiles, marbles, Lincoln Logs, and dice.

Then I took a handful of jars that I already had (you can never have too many vases and jars on hand) and started filling them up. As I filled each one the smile on my face just kept getting bigger and bigger. It really is one of the happiest centerpieces I’ve seen.

It’s also been a great conversation piece. Everyone that comes to my house asks me about it.

Sadly, I have had some younger (teenagers) visitors that have asked me what these are. When I reply “light bright pegs” there is no ounce of acknowledgement in their faces. I’m completely shocked! Especially because I’m not that much older than them! (At least I don’t think I am, they might say differently.)

Every time I steal a glance of this playful centerpiece it puts a smile on my face. Mission accomplished.
