I wasn’t quite sure what to call this post. Is it still considered a makeover if all you do is rearrange things?
I’m going to say yes.
Maybe a lesser degree of makeover, but still a makeover. I sure feel like I have a whole new room and that is one of the best feelings ever!
As I have mentioned, we are in the process of creating a new dining room. Which, in turn, has caused all sorts of rearranging.
This is our living room pre-makeover. It’s a wonderful L-shaped space with vaulted ceilings.
We had sorta separated the space into different areas with the curtain. This was our reading nook, as we lovingly called it.
And this was our sitting area for company or sunday afternoon naps or whatever.
A shot from the sitting area of the bookshelves and piano.
When we arranged the living room into this I absolutely loved it. It’s been this way for a couple years, which is kind of a record for me, I love to rearrange furniture. But with the change to the dining room I just wasn’t feeling it anymore. I felt like we needed a more open space. So after much deliberation and furniture moving, I found a winner.
What do you think?
I love how open it is. Just fantastic!
This area use to be our dining room. And now that it isn’t, it seems so weird that it was. I live in the house I grew up in and this was always the dining room. It took me a awhile to imagine it a different way. It seems so obvious to me (now) that the other room off of the kitchen is a better space for a dining room than this.
This was the chandelier we had hanging over the dining table.
We replaced it with this paper lantern that matches the other light in the living room. I love the soft glow that paper lanterns give off.
We watch a lot of shows and movies on our computer so we needed some comfy seats for viewing. And, as an added bonus, we can easily pull the chairs over for additional seating when we have company.
And that’s my “new” living room. It’s so spacious and wonderful and I love it. We’re still working on the dining room, but I can’t wait to share it with you when it’s finished.
Any thoughts?
Until next time….
-Meg
