geometric wooden ornaments

geometric wooden ornaments

These wooden ornaments were such fun to make and I love how they turned out. They look perfect hanging on my tree with the¬†himmeli ornaments. I cut wooden blanks into pieces at random lengths. I bought the wooden balls at Michael's. To start, I poked a hole in each wooden ball and blank using an awl. This will greatly help in getting the screw eyes into the wood.   Once you get the screw eye started, use … [Read more...]

himmeli ornaments

diy himmeli ornaments

As stated yesterday, I am head over heels for himmeli. Once I learned how to make the himmeli wreath, a whole world of himmeli possibilities opened up. I spent a little time playing around with it and made a handful of fun shapes. And what better place to hang them than on my skinny little Christmas tree.           I even made a himmeli star to top the … [Read more...]

geometric paper christmas tree

I have wanted to put a Christmas tree in our basement for years. But there isn't really room for a tree, not to mention the extra room needed for storage. So the perfect fix? A paper tree! I bought a pack of neutral cardstock and cut 4 inch x 4 inch squares. Then cut each one in half diagonally to make triangles.   Using scotch tape I attached my "tree" to the wall in our tv area downstairs. I put A Muppet … [Read more...]

trio of holiday garlands

christmas mantel

When in doubt, add a garland. Which is exactly what I did to my mantel. Thrice. If you're loving some of the other holiday merriment happening in this photo you can find tutorials for the Christmas star, metallic santa art and pine saplings by clicking on the links. I made these three simple garlands to add the finishing touch to my Christmas mantel. I made a jingle bell garland; jingle bells strung onto some silver bakers twine. … [Read more...]

merry & bright lightbox

diy merry & bright lightbox

Christmas is in full swing here and it's glorious! Only downside? It's going too quickly. This merry and bright lightbox is one of my favorite holiday projects to date. It is absolutely brimming with holiday merriment!   I used 1x3 inch boards for the frame and an 18 inch x 30 inch piece of plexi glass for the sign. Here, Curt is cutting a groove on the inside of the frame boards for the plexi glass to slide into. For … [Read more...]

pine saplings

pine saplings

Just look at this delightful forest of pine saplings. I'm in love with these. I ordered my pine saplings from hollyhillfarms on Etsy. And they were only $2.00 per sapling! They arrived and looked perfect. I potted mine in mason jars to use for holiday decorations and gifts. Ideally, I'd do this in the garage, but it was 19 degrees so that was out. Obviously it's gonna be a little messy. Use a cookie sheet to corral some of … [Read more...]

There's nothing like a festive entry table to welcome holiday guests. My entry table is full of sparkling merriment!   I filled glass vases with ornaments I already had. I think Christmas needs more disco balls. They're so sparkly and fun!       I made a giant snow globe for the display. You can see all the fun details for the snow globes here.     You've … [Read more...]

dollar store garland wreath

tinsel garland wreath

I really love a sparkling holiday wreath. And I really really love when I can make one for less than $15.00! So I was at the dollar store (The Dollar Tree to be exact) and I spotted this fantastic silver tinsel garland. Almost immediately I thought it'd make a great wreath. I wasn't wrong.   All you need for this project is a straw wreath form, tinsel garland and a stapler. My wreath form is an 18 inch and it … [Read more...]
