tassel garland

I can’t explain it, but there is something so fantastic about garlands.

I am head-over-heels, crazy-in-love with garlands!

And this tassel garland is no exception. Are you loving it as much as me?

I first saw a tassel garland here at Confetti System. It was love at first sight! I was dying over it!

…But then I saw the price of $130.00. No that isn’t a typo. One hundred and thirty dollars.

Ok, first of all….Are you kidding me?

And second…..Are you kidding me?!!

At that point I just assumed my natural reaction to most things I see, which is,

“Pah! I can make that.”

Ok then, here we go.

Start with a single sheet of tissue paper in the color of your choosing.

Fold the tissue paper in half width wise.

Then fold it twice length wise.

To make your tassel-y fringe cut strips into the tissue paper. Cut into the unfolded end of the tissue paper leaving 1-2 inches uncut at the top. You can cut them as wide as you would like. Mine are about a half an inch.

Then unfold the tissue paper and cut twice; once along each fold so you have four separate pieces.

Take one fringe-y piece, unfold it and lay it out flat.

Using the center section, roll up the fringe.

Once it’s rolled up, twist it tightly.

Then make a little loop and secure it with a dab of hot glue.

Your tassel is now finished! Wasn’t that a cinch?

When you have all your tassels made just string them onto yarn or bakers twine or string or whatever ya got.

I will definitely be making more of these in other colors and for other occasions.

The possibilities are endless!

I had a few extra tassels so I hung them on my ladder with some little love messages.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next time….

-Meg

That is so fun!  I am going to have to try that.  I love garland too, how do you store them though, do you just throw them out when the season is over or do you very carefully save them for the next year.  I have a way with making a tangled up mess of everything.   Thanks for the fun idea!

They are so cute.  I love tassels and putting them in a garland. Very creative.  An easy way to store them is in a shoe box and they can be used over and over each year.
