Ever feel like creating something without having to follow the rules?
I think most creations fall into that, but sewing especially for me. I’m not very good at sewing, am mostly self-taught and I can’t read patterns. Well, at least, I don’t think I can. I’ve never actually tried. I just like to try to recreate the ideas I have in my head.
So when I decided to sew a couple new spring pillows for my couch, I was just making it up as I went.
This is the final product. Super simple and easy.
For this pillow, I wanted random turquoise lines across the front. I sewed over the lines three times so they were bold enough.
When I got to the end of the fabric, I pivoted the sewing machine and went back the other way.
So this is what it looked like when I was done with that step.
Then I made some of these fabric circles to attach to the front.
I got them sewed on, finished sewing the pillow together, put it on the couch and…..guess what?
I hated it.
I really wanted to like it, but I just wasn’t.
I hate when the idea in your head can’t make the jump.
So I took the circles off and left it just plain and simple like this.
Now this, this, I’m kind of in love with.
The birdie cloud pillow was really quick and easy. I drew a cloud and raindrops onto paper and used that for a template. Then just sewed them on top of the fabric, leaving the edges raw.
And here’s my two new spring pillows!
Until next time….
